LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- (CWD) -- Sources tell Crime Watch Daily that the state of California is not pursuing charges for possession of child pornography against "Glee" actor Mark Salling and the case will now likely be in the hands of federal investigators, who will decide whether and how to pursue the case.
Possession of child pornography carries much harsher penalties at the federal level than at the state level.
It is expected that Salling, who was scheduled to be arraigned in a Los Angeles court this Friday, will not be in attendance.
As Crime Watch Daily first reported, Salling, 33, was arrested on December 29, 2015, after the Los Angeles Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, in partnership with Homeland Security, obtained a search warrant for his home in Sunland, California and obtained more than 1,000 images from Salling's personal devices.
