Excavation underway for missing student Kristin Smart, last seen in 1996

LOS ANGELES -- (KTLA) -- FBI investigators and local police began excavating near a landmark at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, in hopes of finding evidence related to the 1996 disappearance of student Kristin Smart.
The search for the missing student resumed Tuesday.
