911 call released in claw hammer assault that put woman in hospital

FLAT ROCK, N.C. -- (WLOS) -- A 911 recording details the moments after a Henderson County woman was beaten with a hammer.
"She is conscious, but she is bleeding and she is hurting bad ... And she needs some help," the caller said.
Deputies say 19-year-old John Ferry attacked a 55-year-old woman. The 911 caller told the emergency dispatcher he didn't know why it happened.
The caller also said he believed Ferry may been suffering from a mental health issue.
DISPATCHER: What started all this?
CALLER: "He is ... Um... On a religious trip and he thinks he is supposed to be like, the salvation of the world ... He needs some help ... He needs some counseling."
