WARREN COUNTY, Ohio -- (WXIX) -- A former Mason resident has pleaded guilty in a rape case involving a disabled woman.
Investigators said Brian Sundin sexually assaulted a resident of the Brookside Extended Care Center in Mason in July 2000. They said the victim was non-verbal, functioned at the level of an infant, and required total support for all necessary life functions and activities.
Crime labs found blood and semen in the victim's diaper and entered the DNA into the nationwide CODIS database. Years later, the testing results “hit” on Sundin's DNA profile that was entered by the Florida Department of Corrections.
This week, Sundin pleaded guilty as charged to the rape of a developmentally disabled woman, authorities said.
