LYNN, Mass. -- (WBZ) -- After more than a year on the run investigators arrested alleged fugitive, 28-year-old Steven Touch, for a violent murder and home invasion in Billerica in July of 2012.
Investigators say they found Touch in an unusual hiding place: inside a drawer built into a bed frame in a Lynn apartment.
He faces murder for the shooting death of 22-year-old Quintin Koehler.
Investigators say he was one of a group of six suspects looking for money and marijuana they thought was inside the Boston Street home.
Touch allegedly drove the getaway car.
He is the last to be arrested, bringing relief to the victim's grandmother Nancy Koehler.
“Billerica police figured he was out of the country, but he kept saying to me 'Nancy, don't worry, he's not going to come back to Billerica,' but you never know,” Koehler told WBZ-TV.
Prosecutors allege Touch is the leader of a gang in Lynn known as the Young Bloods and they say he has tattoos that prove his affiliation.
His attorney John Morris believes the murder charge is an overreach, along with putting Touch on the Massachusetts Most Wanted list.
“It causes concern for me as an attorney, down the road on whether or not he's getting a fair shake from a jury that has seen all that information,” said Morris.
Investigators said they developed information that Touch was at the Lynn address where his name is on the mailbox listed as “Kevin Touch”.
A $10,000 reward had been offered for information leading to his arrest, but the FBI says no one has received that money.
“I commend these police — they did a wonderful job. I didn't think they'd find any of them, nevermind all of them,” said Nancy Koehler.
Touch is being held without bail, while three others in the case have already been convicted.
