Police in Charleston desperately searching for missing 4-year-old girl

UPDATE: A missing South Carolina child abducted after her mother was brutally beaten in Charleston Tuesday was found in Alabama late Wednesday afternoon, AL.com reports .
Heidi Renae Todd, 4, was recovered in Riverside, confirmed Pell City Police Chief Paul Irwin.
CHARLESTON -- (WSOC) -- Officials are looking for a 4-year-old girl who disappeared in South Carolina.
Charleston Police spokesman Charles Francis told local media that officers are looking for Heidi Todd. She was reported missing on Johns Island shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Officers, firefighters, the Charleston County Rescue Squad and the U.S. Coast Guard searched through the night without success.
Crews searched a pond near her Johns Island home Wednesday morning.
During a Wednesday morning news conference, authorities said the girl's mother was severely beaten by a man who may have abducted Heidi.
Police said the woman could only provide a limited description of the suspect as a thin Hispanic man, between 25 and 30 years old who has short hair and is dressed in all gray.
Officials said the mother also has four other children but that they were all safe.
The State Law Enforcement Division has asked law enforcement agencies across the state to look for the girl. Authorities have not issued an Amber Alert because of a lack of information on a possible suspect.
Heidi was last seen wearing pink pants and a blue shirt.
