Family of YouTube shooter says they tried to warn authorities

SAN BRUNO, Calif. -- (KRON) -- The family of a 39-year-old San Diego woman who opened fire at YouTube's headquarters in San Bruno says they tried to warn authorities before the attack, according to KGTV.

KGTV spoke to Nasim Aghdam's brother Tuesday night at a home in Menifee.

They would not speak on camera but opened the door to say they tried to warn authorities before the shooting that left three people wounded.

"She was a nice person," her brother told KGTV. "I mean maybe not today, but she never hurt any creature."

Law enforcement believes Aghdam had a longstanding dispute with the company.

A website in that name decried YouTube's policies and said the company was trying to “suppress” content creators.

“Youtube filtered my channels to keep them from getting views!” one of the messages on the site said. “There is no equal growth opportunity on YOUTUBE or any other video sharing site, your channel will grow if they want to!!!!!”

Aghdam's brother told KGTV that his family began worrying about Nasim over the weekend and reported her missing to the police.

Police told the family that her car was found in Mountain View.

"I Googled 'Mountain View' and it was close to YouTube headquarters, and she had a problem with YouTube," her brother said. "So I called that cop again and told him there's a reason she went all the way from San Diego to there, so she might do something."
