The young man at the center of a high-profile Texas case is breaking his silence. And he says everything you've read about him is not true.
On the Texas-Oklahoma border, a distraught woman calls 911 after finding her boyfriend dead of an apparent suicide on December 12, 2007.
The woman woke up to find her boyfriend covered in blood, dead from an apparent suicide. Cops are suspicious from the moment they walk into Danny Rolen Jr.'s home.
Immediately cops start asking: Is the death of Danny Rolen Jr. really a suicide, or is it murder?
Danny Rolen Jr. had been murdered. Police were looking at the two people that were in this home at the time the 911 call was placed: Rolen's girlfriend Amber Ratliff and 16-year-old Tyler Quain.
The autopsy states Rolen "died as the result of multiple sharp force injuries and blunt force head injuries." The medical examiner says the manner of death is homicide.
So who staged the scene to look like suicide? Investigators now hone in on the teenager who claims he discovered Rolen's bloody body: Preston Allen Quain, who goes by "Tyler."
Quain was arrested and charged with murder.
Texas teenager Tyler Quain stood accused of killing 32-year-old Danny Rolen Jr. and staging the scene to look like a suicide.
In an exclusive Crime Watch Daily interview, Quain says you haven't heard the whole story.
The evidence against Quain was so overwhelming, the jury quickly returned a verdict. The day before Quain turned 17, he was found guilty of murder. He was sentenced to 99 years in prison. He must serve 30 years before he is eligible for parole.
Quain's lawyers appealed his sentence -- arguing that the trial judge should have disqualified a juror who personally knew some of the witnesses. That appeal was denied. He will not be eligible for parole until 2038.
