Man accused of leaving girlfriend to suffocate and die convicted of murder

Rochester, N.Y. -- (WHAM) -- A Rochester man was convicted of murder on Wednesday by a jury in the death of his girlfriend last July.
The jury found Terry Williams, 51, guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Cheryl Robinson. Williams was also found guilty of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
Prosecutors said sometime around July 14, 2017, Williams went to Robinson's Central Park apartment, shoved a towel in her mouth, bound her hands and ankles, and wrapped a gag around her mouth, head and feet. He then left her there for weeks, causing her to die by asphyxiation.
Police found Robinson's body on July 28. Williams was arrested about four weeks later.
