RIO RANCHO, N.M. -- (KRQE) -- Newly released court documents offer graphic details in the case of a Rio Rancho girl found dead inside her home.
According to the Albuquerque Journal, a search warrant describes officers finding Ariana Jade Romeo murdered Saturday morning in a makeshift bedroom in what was the home's garage. The garage was said to be in “total disarray.”
Documents indicate Ariana's body was found in bloody sheets, near a marijuana pipe and prescription medications. The Albuquerque Journal reports that the girl was found on a piece of foam in the garage, with no pants or underwear and that there was “damage” to the girl's genitals.
Investigators are still awaiting the results of an autopsy to determine how Ariana was killed. Police have yet to arrest any suspects in the case either.
Neighbors tell KRQE News 13 that Ariana lived at the home with her mother and that "other" older kids were in-and-out of the home often. The Albuquerque Journal reports that police are also said to have searched for any evidence of child pornography at the home.
