INDIANAPOLIS (WXIN) -- Police arrested a 19-year-old accused of murdering a man in the Skateland parking lot early Monday morning.
Damon Lewis Jr. is accused of killing Justin Anderson during an adult skate night at the skating rink.
According to court records, Lewis rolled down his passenger side window and shot Anderson in the back on the side of this business.
As the suspect's car sped away, Anderson pushed his fiancée out of the way so she wouldn't get hit by the gunfire.
The victim's mother says her son Justin leaves behind four young kids.
According to the arrest affidavit, "The incident stems from bickering and fighting among members of a large family over custody issues involving a 13-year-old child."
Police reports show Lewis had gotten into a fight with Anderson's cousin at a church on East 19th Street a week before the killing, but Anderson himself was not involved in either dispute.
Prosecutors say Lewis and the driver of the car eventually turned themselves in and Lewis confessed to the shooting. Lewis faces a preliminary charge of murder.
