KEARNS, Utah (KSTU) -- A Utah woman was arrested Monday for homicide in the beating death of her husband.
Unified Police officers found an unresponsive man on March 11. The victim had obvious bruising on his body. Carlos Vizcarra-Corona, 33, was pronounced dead shortly after emergency crews arrived, the Deseret News reports.
The victim's wife, Veronica Vizcarra, told police her husband got into a fight at work two weeks earlier. The medical examiner ruled the cause of death was homicide.
"After some further investigation, talking with some people that had some information from prior, it appeared that the wife was the one that inflicted the injuries on him," said UPD Sgt. Melody Gray. "And she was arrested last night for domestic violence-related homicide."
On March 11, Vizcarra allegedly beat him “with a staple gun and or nail gun,” according to the affidavit.
Earlier this year UPD officers were called to the same home for an alcohol-fueled domestic violence incident. Police reported Vizcarra drove away from that scene, allegedly intoxicated, and with her infant child in her lap.
