Tulsa police: Two bodies found in river, creek identified as missing children

TULSA, Okla. (KFOR) -- The bodies of two children found in a river and creek in northeast Oklahoma were identified as two children who went missing last week, police announced.
Late Tuesday night, May 26, Muskogee and Wagoner County Emergency Management recovered a female child's body from the Verdigris River. The second child's body was found in Bird Creek in Tulsa on Wednesday evening.
On Friday, Chief Wendell Franklin with the Tulsa Police Department confirmed that the bodies found were 3-year-old Miracle Crook and 2-year-old Tony Crook.
Authorities say Miracle and Tony were last seen near the Shoreline Apartments in Tulsa on May 22. The children were seen just minutes earlier with their mother, Donisha Willis, at a nearby convenience store. About 30 minutes later that morning, a witness saw the children at the apartment with Willis. She was found passed out on the couch by police at the apartment.
Tulsa Police Chief Wendell Franklin said it appeared the children walked through an open section of the chainlink fence along Mingo Creek and down steps carved into the cement embankment.
Willis, who was on probation, did not have custody of the children, but allegedly broke into the apartment where they were Thursday night and assaulted their caretaker, according to an arrest report.
Donisha Willis, is in the Tulsa County jail on two complaints of child neglect after former conviction of a felony and one count of assault and battery on a police officer after former conviction of a felony, Tulsa World reports.
