VALHERMOSO SPRINGS, Ala. (WHNT) -- A homicide investigation is underway after seven people and a dog were found dead in a Morgan County home.
Authorities identified two of the victims as Jeramy Wade Roberts, 31, of Athens, and William Zane Hodgin, 18, of Sommerville. Family members of Tammy England Muzzey confirmed that she was among the victims in the shooting.
The Morgan County Sheriff's Office confirms deputies responded to a gunshot call on Talucah Road around midnight where multiple fatalities were reported. When deputies arrived they found the home on fire, but say they were able to put out the flames before firefighters arrived.
Mike Swafford, public information officer of the Morgan County Sheriff's Office, told AL.com that investigators believe the suspect went to the house with the intention of shooting everyone there. He said some victims had multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators believe the fire was started to cover up a crime scene, Swafford told AL.com.
“We don't have a motive at this time. We don't have a determined suspect at this time," Swafford said.
