LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- A woman was arrested Tuesday for allegedly killing a kitten in South Gate Monday night.
Residential video appears to show the woman trying to unlatch a gate and get onto the front porch of a house around midnight Monday. The woman was not able to open the gate all the way and is seen reaching inside and sliding a kitten over to her.
The next morning, the 6-week-old kitten was found dead across the street.
The Long Beach Press-Telegram reports the woman was taken into custody in a Denny's parking lot at 5811 Firestone Ave., near Garfield Avenue, while in possession of another kitten on Tuesday, according to the South Gate Police Department. The suspect was not immediately identified and charges were not announced. The second kitten was unharmed.
Police said she was taken to a mental health facility for evaluation.
