KANSAS CITY, Kan. (WDAF) -- Jacqulyn Kirkpatrick has been arrested in connection to the death of 3-year-old Olivia Jansen, according to Wyandotte County Jail booking logs. The girl's family told WDAF-TV FOX4 Kirkpatrick is the girlfriend of Howard Jansen III, Olivia's father, who was also arrested.
Kansas City Police said Olivia's body was found Friday in the area of 34th Street and Steele Road after police got a tip about a body near a trail.
Police issued an AMBER Alert on Friday morning after Olivia's father walked into the KCK Police Department and reported her missing.
KCK police said the last time Olivia's father said he saw her was 11 p.m. Thursday when he went to sleep at his home on Gibbs Road. He told police that when he woke up at 5:30 a.m. Friday, she was gone and the door to the house was open. He reported her missing three hours later.
KCKPD spokesman Tom Tomasic said they heard “several stories throughout the day” and “none of them made sense.”
The Kansas City Star reports Howard Jansen III, 29, and Jacqulyn Kirkpatrick, 33, have been charged with felony murder, aggravated endangering a child and criminal desecration in the death of Olivia Ann Jansen, Wyandotte County District Attorney Mark Dupree announced.
