LOS ANGELES (KTLA) -- The Los Angeles County Coroner's Office on Thursday released the names of two young brothers who died after authorities said they were struck by a suspected impaired driver in Westlake Village on Tuesday.
Jacob Iskander, 8, and Mark Iskander, 11, were crossing the street at the intersection of Triunfo Canyon Road and Saddle Mountain Drive around 7:10 p.m. Tuesday when the fatal collision occurred. One of the brothers was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other died hours later at a hospital.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a family of six was walking in a marked crosswalk when a vehicle sped through the intersection and hit the boys “right in front of the parents,” L.A. County Sheriff's Department officials said.
Authorities arrested 57-year-old Rebecca Grossman after the crash. She was booked on suspicion of two counts of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence, according to sheriff's Capt. Salvador Becerra.
“We believe speed is a factor. Alcohol is a factor. And part of the investigation revealed that she may have left the scene,” said Becerra.
The agency did not release a booking photo.
The suspect is married to Dr. Peter Grossman, a prominent plastic and reconstructive surgeon in Los Angeles and president of the Grossman Burn Foundation at West Hills Hospital. Rebecca Grossman is the foundation's co-founder and chair.
