JACKSON COUNTY, Ind. (TCD) --
A high school teacher in Indiana has been fired from his job, arrested and charged after a student at the school gave birth to his child, police said this week.
Seymour Police said disruptions began at the high school when a student, who no longer attends the school, gave birth on Sept. 21. Police did not elaborate on the nature of the disruptions at the school.
On Sept. 24, Seymour Police and Seymour Community Schools resource officers began an investigation. Todd A. Weaver, 50, was placed on administrative leave by the school pending the outcome of the investigation. Weaver was a teacher and the wrestling coach at Seymour High School.
Investigators served a search warrant and examined cellphone activity and DNA evidence, and conducted interviews in the case, leading to a paternity test.
Indiana State Police Lab paternity test results received on Nov. 13 determined Weaver is the father of the child of the former student. Weaver was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony child seduction, Seymour Police said.
Weaver resigned from the school after he was placed on leave and before he was arrested. He was held at the Jackson County Jail.
Police said the inappropriate relationship occurred while the former student, who was under the age of 18, was enrolled at the school. The investigation was ongoing.
