COPPERAS COVE, Texas (TCD) --
A Texas man was arrested and charged with the murder of three family members after officers discovered a bloody scene at the family's house.
Copperas Cove Police officers were called for a welfare check at a residence on the 1300 block of Fairbanks St. at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12.
Police said officers met the caller at the scene, but they were unable to make contact with anyone in the house. Officers entered the residence and found three dead people.
Bryan Richardson, 27, was also in the house. He was taken to the police department for questioning and was subsequently charged with three counts of murder. He was held on $2.25 million bond.
KWTX-TV reports the deceased were identified as Richardson's wife and two children. The woman's brother made the call to police. The oldest child was reportedly a pre-kindergarten student.
Officers found “a large amount of blood on the kitchen and living room floors” and a small dog lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen, KWTX reports. Officers forced the locked door to a room open after discovering a “large pool of blood on the floor just outside the door,” and found Richardson lying on a bed, covered in blood.
Beneath Richardson, officers found the body of his wife, and beside him the bodies of two children. Officers found a blood-covered kitchen knife on a table along with an empty six-pack of beer and an empty bottle of the prescription antidepressant Trazodone, KWTX reports. Richardson was found to have three lacerations to his left arm that he said were self-inflicted, according to the criminal complaint.
