UNION COUNTY, Pa. (WNEP) --
Troopers arrested Tracy Rollins Jr., 28, in Connecticut on Wednesday in the murder of Rebecca Landrith.
Landrith's body was found Sunday, Feb. 7, along an Interstate 80 ramp near Milton, Pa. The Virginia woman was a professional model.
Court paperwork indicates that Landrith was shot 20 times in the face, chest and hands.
Investigators believe Rollins picked up Landrith at a truck stop in Connecticut, and the two traveled around the country before she was killed.
Rollins faces criminal homicide and abuse of corpse charges. He was held in Connecticut with bail set at $1 million, pending extradition to Pennsylvania.
PennLive.com reports Landrith's body was found about 7 a.m. Sunday by a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation worker on the I-80 eastbound exit ramp at the Mile Run interchange near Loganton.
Eighteen bullets were removed from Landrith’s body during an autopsy, the arrest affidavit states. State police investigators called her wounds defensive.
PhillyVoice reports investigators said Landrith had recently traveled through Indiana and Wisconsin. She was identified using fingerprints found on receipts from those states that had been found with her body.
According to a criminal complaint, a note found in Landrith's jacket had Tracy Rollins' name written on it, along with a phone number and an email address. Authorities determined that Rollins is a truck driver, PhillyVoice reported.
Union County Coroner Dominick Adamo said he doesn’t believe the shooting occurred in the location the body was found, but he said “it’s not known where it occurred,” NorthcentralPa.com reports.
