INDIANAPOLIS (TCD) --
UPDATE March 16, 2021:
The Indianapolis Star reports Malik Halfacre, accused of killing three adults and a 7-year-old girl Saturday night, told police he began shooting everyone inside the Randolph Street house after an argument over a stimulus check, according to court records.
Halfacre told police he and his 6-month-old daughter's mother "were arguing because he wanted some of her stimulus check" before the shooting. He told investigators that after he shot everyone inside the home, he took the money and his daughter's mother's purse and car before fleeing the scene, the Star reports.
March 15, 2021:
SWAT officers arrested a quadruple homicide suspect hiding in an attic hours after the man allegedly abducted his infant daughter. A 7-year-old girl was among four bodies found Saturday night.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police responded to a reported shooting on the 250 block of North Randolph Street at 9:35 p.m. Saturday. Arriving officers found a female victim with gunshot wounds. She was hospitalized in critical condition.
Officers "gathered additional information" and then went to a nearby residence at 338 N. Randolph Street, where they discovered four people with gunshot wounds.
Responding paramedics declared the victims deceased at the scene. The four victims were identified as Daquan Moore, 23; Anthony Johnson, 35; Tomeeka Brown, 44; and Eve Moore, 7.
Homicide detectives said Malik Halfacre, 25, had fled the residence in a 2012 Chevrolet Impala with his 6-month old daughter, who was believed to be in danger. An Amber Alert was issued.
The girl and the car were found separately early Sunday morning. The girl was safe.
Investigators said information led them to a residence on the 6200 block of Eastridge Drive on Sunday, and a SWAT team was called to the scene.
After several hours, officers entered the residence and found Malik Halfacre hiding in the attic. He was arrested on suspicion of murder.
The Indianapolis Star reports Halfacre faces preliminary charges of four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and one count of robbery, according to IMPD Deputy Chief of Investigations Craig McCartt.
The surviving woman who was hospitalized had been shot in the back, the Star reported. She was the one who directed officers to the second residence.
The Indianapolis Star reported Sunday the woman found at the first residence was stable and was cooperating with investigators.
According to the Star, the 6-month-old girl is the daughter of Malik and the hospitalized victim, who remained unnamed.
