LEAGUE CITY, Texas (TCD) --
An arrest warrant was issued for a homeless man suspected of stabbing a Jack in the Box restaurant manager Wednesday after the suspect was asked to wear a mask per store policy.
League City Police officers responded to an aggravated assault call at the Jack in the Box at 1503 West League City Parkway Wednesday.
A white male described as approximately 60 years old stabbed a manager at the restaurant, police said. Co-workers intervened to defend the victim, and the suspect then fled the scene.
The manager was hospitalized and was expected to recover.
Officers searching the area with a K9 found several pieces of evidence, thought to be property discarded by the suspect as he fled the area on a bicycle.
League City Police detectives identified the suspect as James Schulz, 53, believed to be a transient.
Schulz reportedly refused to cooperate with a store policy to wear a face mask, police said.
After confronting employees, the suspect attacked the restaurant manager with what appeared to be a pocketknife. The manager was stabbed three times in the arm and upper torso, police said.
League City Police Chief Gary Ratliff said in a press conference Thursday Schulz accused employees of not wanting to serve him because he was homeless and "began yelling that he would be contacting his attorney as he was filming with his cellphone."
