ASHEBORO, N.C. (TCD) --
A North Carolina man wanted for allegedly stabbing his grandfather to death and injuring his grandmother was arrested at a hotel early Sunday morning with meth allegedly in his possession.
Randolph County Sheriff’s deputies in North Carolina responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence on Emmanuel Church Rd. on Saturday, April 3.
Deputies found Harold King, 74, dead inside the residence.
Investigators identified the stabbing suspect as Brian Cody King, 25. Brian King allegedly stabbed Harold King, then left the residence with a female, the sheriff’s office said. Hours later, the female was dropped off at a Thomasville location, about 20 miles away, where she called 911.
She was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries “she sustained during the incident,” according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies later said Harold King and the unidentified woman are Brian King’s grandparents.
Deputies obtained an arrest warrant for murder for Brian King. He was considered armed and dangerous. Later that day, Brian King’s unoccupied 2000 Chevrolet Silverado was found in Mooresville, about 65 miles west of Asheboro.
“The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Apprehension Team apprehended King at approximately 2:10 a.m., April 4, 2021,” the sheriff’s office said. He was arrested at a hotel in Cornelius, just south of Mooresville. Deputies said King had methamphetamine in his possession when he was booked at the Randolph County Detention Center, where he was held without bond on charges of murder, meth possession and possession of a controlled substance on jail premises.
