Juvenile killed by stolen vehicle he jumped out of during pursuit, sheriff’s office says

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (TCD) --
A juvenile suspect was killed when he jumped from a moving vehicle during a stolen vehicle police pursuit Monday night.
A sheriff’s deputy located a vehicle reported stolen out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, at about 9 p.m. Monday, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said.
The deputy activated his siren and emergency lights and attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver did not stop, and led the deputy on a pursuit, according to the sheriff’s office.
The pursuit began on Interstate 380 and proceeded onto Highway 150, the sheriff’s office said.
On the 2800 block of Hwy 150, the two people in the stolen vehicle fled from the moving vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
The driver was struck by the moving vehicle before the vehicle hit an occupied house. He died at the scene, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said.
The passenger was taken into custody nearby.
Both suspects were identified as juveniles, the sheriff’s office said.
No one in the house was injured.
