Chicago mom accused of killing 12-year-old son over missing storage disc

CHICAGO (TCD) -- A 37-year-old Cook County woman allegedly shot and killed her son over the weekend because she could not find a storage disc she had taken out of her car the previous night.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Fallon Harris appeared in court Sunday, which was streamed on YouTube. The Chicago Tribune reports that at 10:15 a.m. Saturday, Harris asked her 12-year-old son, later identified as Kaden Ingram, at gunpoint where a missing storage disc had gone.

Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Eugene Wood reportedly said in court that Ingram was alive but collapsed on the floor after the first shot, NBC Chicago reports. When Ingram did not produce the disc, Harris allegedly shot him. After asking a second time, she allegedly shot him again.

Harris allegedly called two relatives and told them she shot Ingram because he would not give her the disc. The relatives subsequently called the police and Ingram’s father, according to the Chicago Tribune.

When Chicago police arrived, Harris reportedly said she shot Ingram and showed them the weapon. The 12-year-old was reportedly "discovered unresponsive by a witness," the Chicago Tribune reports. Ingram was transported to University of Chicago Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 10:51 a.m.

According to NBC Chicago, the Medical Examiner’s Office said Ingram died from gunshot wounds to the head.

WLS-TV reports Harris' court-appointed attorney called her a lifelong Cook County resident who had worked for the city "for some time now." NBC Chicago reports Harris was employed by the Chicago Department of Transportation. She reportedly also possessed a concealed-carry license and owned two guns.

According to Cook County Jail inmate records, Harris was being held without bond.
