IROQUOIS COUNTY, Ill. (TCD) -- Two men were arrested this week in connection with the death of a 29-year-old man whose body was found in an oil tanker in early June.
The Times-Republic, citing a police blotter, reports that on October 3, 37-year-old Ryan Morrow was taken into custody for a warrant of unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and unlawful concealment of death. According to KTVI-TV, 33-year-old Billy Roof III was handed the same charges, as well as unlawful use of account numbers.
Both men were taken to Iroquois County Jail.
Garrett Meyer’s body was found in an oil tanker June 4 near Buckley, Illinois, according to KTVI. Two workers reportedly had trouble loading fuel into the tanker, and they discovered his remains when they went to investigate. He had reportedly been missing for about 10 days by that point.
According to his obituary, Meyer was found dead a week before his 30th birthday. He worked at the BP Gas Station in Nashville, Illinois, and loved video games and reading.
WCIA-TV reports Meyer’s autopsy showed he had "toxic levels of amphetamines and fentanyl" in his system. His blood alcohol level was reportedly at .181.
