Iowa man charged with first-degree murder 5 months after wife is fatally shot

DAVENPORT, Iowa (TCD) -- A 34-year-old man faces additional charges after his wife was found shot to death on June 10, 2021.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Shane Bostrom was charged with first-degree murder following an investigation into his wife’s death.
KWQC-TV reports that 28-year-old Jane Bostrom was found dead inside her home on the 300 block of West Davenport Street after authorities responded to a shooting report.
According to the Quad-City Times, upon further investigation, authorities found eight marijuana plants, which reportedly belonged to Jane’s husband, Shane Bostrom. Additionally, investigators allegedly found two growing tents with lights, weight scales, humidity scales and baggies for marijuana delivery and distribution.
According to the Quad-City Times, video surveillance footage allegedly revealed Shane removing the eight plants and placing them outside to hide the evidence. All of the marijuana and supplies were reportedly accessible to Shane’s 5-year-old daughter.
Shane was arrested and originally charged with controlled substance violation, failure to affix drug tax stamp, child endangerment, obstructing prosecution of defense and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Shane remains held in Scott County Jail on a $25,000 bond.
