MACON COUNTY, Tenn. (TCD) -- A mom and her boyfriend were arrested over the weekend after her children were found living in "atrocious" and "deplorable" living conditions.
According to the Macon County Chronicle, a deputy from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a residence on Twins Lane regarding a vandalism report. The deputy learned that a group of juveniles allegedly broke four windows in one trailer and one window in another.
Deputies went to a residence on Akersville Road to speak with the juveniles and their mother, 35-year-old Stacey Early, and her boyfriend, Dennis Crook, 52. According to the Macon County Chronicle citing a report, deputies walked inside and found "atrocious, heinous, disgusting, and deplorable" conditions. The interior allegedly had feces on the bed, bed bugs, garbage, and rotten food. The bathroom reportedly had raw sewage backed up as well.
WKRN-TV reports the children, ages 6, 10, and 11, said they had not bathed in several weeks.
According to the Macon County Chronicle, Early reportedly admitted she knew the kids were covered in bed bug bites but didn’t do anything about it.
Early and Crook were arrested and each charged with three counts of aggravated child abuse and neglect.
WKRN reports the children were taken out of the home.
