MIAMI (TCD) -- A 28-year-old Argentinian woman was fatally stabbed last week, allegedly by a co-worker who was upset she would not date him.
On Nov. 29, Miami Beach Police Department officers responded to a stabbing call at 7330 Harding Ave. at 6:24 p.m. and located a female and male with apparent stab wounds. Both people were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital. Miami Beach Police called the incident "domestic related" in their tweet.
According to NBC Miami, the victim was identified as Delfina Pan. She was declared dead at the hospital, the Miami Herald reports.
Twenty-year-old Agustin Lucas Mariani was booked into Miami-Dade County Jail for second-degree murder with a weapon. He was being held without bond. Mariani reportedly stabbed himself in the incident and had been waiting for Pan outside her apartment, NBC Miami reports.
The Miami Herald reports Pan turned down Mariani’s romantic advances and he was upset that she did not invite him inside. A neighbor reportedly told police Mariani "produced a knife and without being provoked began to stab the victim." He then allegedly stabbed himself in the chest.
Mariani and Pan reportedly both worked at Kansas Bar & Grill, and some of their co-workers reportedly told police that Mariani had an obsession with her. Mariani was reportedly scheduled to work a double shift at the restaurant until 11:30 p.m., and Pan was on duty until 6 p.m. the day she was stabbed. She reportedly left early, and Mariani followed suit.
The Miami Herald reports police said the knife found at the scene matched one that was reported missing from the restaurant.
According to Today in 24, one of Pan’s friends said Mariani was "obsessed" with her. The friend said Mariani allegedly "sat her on a chair and told her he was in love with her" on a regular basis.
Pan had been living in Miami Beach for two years after moving there from her home country of Argentina. Mariani reportedly hailed from Argentina, too.
