FREMONT, Calif. (TCD) -- A 29-year-old Tesla employee was arrested after allegedly shooting his co-worker to death earlier this week.
According to a news release from the Fremont Police Department, Fremont Fire Department personnel responded to the parking lot of a Tesla factory in the 45000 block of Fremont Boulevard at around 3:26 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13.
At the scene, authorities reportedly found an unresponsive male victim who had suffered at least one gunshot wound. Police say he was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Upon further investigation, .223 rifle casings were reportedly located nearby.
According to police, homicide detectives learned that the victim was shot in the parking lot after he had finished working a shift at the Tesla manufacturing factory. The victim had reportedly gotten into an argument with the suspect earlier in the day, and the suspect walked off the job.
According to police, investigators surveilled the suspect, Anthony Solima, and shortly after 11 p.m., homicide detectives obtained arrest and search warrants for his car. As the suspect exited his car in Milpitas, he reportedly surrendered.
Inside Solima’s car, police say a loaded, non-serialized, .223 caliber, short-barrel rifle was found along with an expended casing.
Solima was arrested, interviewed, and booked into Santa Rita Jail. The Coroner’s Office has not yet confirmed the victim’s identity.
