INDIANAPOLIS (TCD) -- A 28-year-old man stands accused of shooting his 49-year-old father to death while out of jail earlier this week.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, police responded to the 4200 block of Edmondson Avenue on Tuesday, Dec. 14, in regard to a possible shooting victim. At the scene, officers reportedly found the victim, Michael Wilson, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
Upon further investigation, police said the victim’s son, Michael Wilson Jr., shot his father after the two got into an argument. Wilson Jr. reportedly fled the scene on foot after the shooting.
According to WXIN-TV, authorities were able to track Wilson Jr. down because of the ankle monitor he was wearing. At the time of his father’s death, Wilson Jr. was reportedly on GPS monitoring after posting an $80,000 bond.
Authorities located Wilson Jr. in the 6600 block of Bear Creek Drive and took him into custody, police said.
Last year, Wilson Jr. allegedly abused his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter and was charged with neglect of a dependent. WXIN reports that he also burned and injured a 6-month-old separately in 2015, to which he pleaded guilty.
Wilson Jr. remains held at the Marion County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in court next week.
