RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. (TCD) -- Two day care workers were arrested after an 8-month-old boy sustained a skull fracture and they allegedly tried to hide it from the child’s mother.
According to a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department statement, detectives from their Specialized Investigations Division, Crimes Against Children Detail responded to Loma Linda University Medical Center on Sept. 4 regarding the infant’s injury. Investigators learned the baby attended Kiddie Academy in Rancho Cucamonga and later named Rudie Megan Maldonado, 29, and Felicia Ann Ferra, 50, as suspects.
The two women were suspected of "conspiring to conceal the victim’s injuries and neglect of the victim’s well-being." The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said Maldonado was arrested and booked on child abuse and conspiracy. She was later bailed out. Ferra turned herself in at West Valley Detention Center.
Investigators believe there could be additional victims.
