HOUSTON (TCD) -- A 17-year-old male was arrested earlier this week for reportedly shooting a 16-year-old girl to death over an alleged love triangle.
According to a press release from the Houston Police Department, Frank Deleon Jr. was romantically involved with the victim, Diamond Alvarez, as well as another female.
After learning about the other relationship, Alvarez reportedly met up with Deleon at the park in the 15400 block of Park Manor at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 11.
According to KPRC-TV, Alvarez was walking Peanut, her family dog. The family reportedly heard gunshots and attempted to call Alvarez but couldn’t get a hold of her. KPRC reports that Alvarez’s mother and stepfather found Peanut alone outside and immediately knew something was wrong.
Alvarez’s body was reportedly found in a field.
Upon further investigation, police say they identified Deleon as the suspect. He was arrested and charged with murder on Monday, Jan. 17.
According to KPRC, Alvarez was a sophomore and honor student at Madison High School.
