ANTWERP, Ohio (TCD) -- Police arrested a 47-year-old woman they believe shot her missing husband multiple times and buried his body under bags of cement in her home.
According to an Antwerp Police Department press release provided by WANE-TV, Christopher Franklin was reported missing Jan. 21 and the next day, police said they found a body "believed to be" him. The same day investigators found his body, police took his wife Heidi Lynn Grant into custody for aggravated murder.
WANE reports Franklin’s brother reported him missing because no one had seen or heard from him since Jan. 16. Grant, according to court documents cited by WANE, told investigators she killed her husband following a fight. The couple was reportedly arguing on Jan. 13 when Grant allegedly left, went to her friend’s house to borrow a gun, then returned. Franklin allegedly swung a baseball bat in her direction and she shot him.
According to court records, Franklin was "mortally wounded," and Grant allegedly fired at him again because she "did not want him to suffer."
WANE reports Grant used cement bags to cover Franklin’s body. She allegedly used 11 bags in total. She then allegedly threw out a rug from her home into the garbage about a mile away. Grant reportedly led police to the body and gun after drawing them a diagram of where she left him in the basement.
According to Paulding County Jail records, Grant is being held on $1 million bond.
