OAKLAND, Calif. (TCD) -- A 68-year-old man was sentenced to 16 years in prison for reportedly molesting a young girl and using his phone to record it.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of California said in a Feb. 22 statement Adalberto Borja Guardado was handed a 200-month sentence by a federal judge for sexual coercion of a minor.
Guardado pleaded guilty to the charge Sept. 7, 2021, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a statement at the time. Guardado reportedly admitted he met the 3-year-old girl because she went with her mother to take care of Guardado’s mother as a home health care provider. Guardado reportedly told the girl’s mother he would look after her child while she tended to his mother.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office statement, "Guardado admitted in his plea agreement that within minutes of watching the girl, he pulled down the girl’s pants and molested her."
Additionally, he said he used his phone "to record his molestation."
In their recent statement, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said the girl told her mom about the molestation the day after it occurred, and the mother called San Pablo Police. He was arrested Sept. 14, 2019, which was reportedly five days after the assault occurred.
During their investigation, police reportedly seized three smartphones and found the video, as well as "multiple additional images of child pornography."
In addition to his 200 months in prison, Guardado was sentenced to 15 years of supervision upon his release.
