Houston man accused of dismembering missing woman and setting apartment on fire

HOUSTON (TCD) -- A 28-year-old man was arrested last weekend for allegedly dismembering a missing woman and intentionally setting an apartment on fire.
According to a press release from the Houston Police Department, the victim, 19-year-old Sara Goodwin, was last seen near 8600 S. Course Drive on Feb. 6. Police say an investigation was launched.
On Saturday, Feb. 19, Houston police and fire departments responded to an apartment fire that was intentionally set at 8600 S. Course Drive, police say. At the scene, officers reportedly found Henry David Cossette. According to police, Cossette admitted to killing Goodwin and leaving her body in the 1800 block of Fellows Road.
Police say remains were found at the location Cossette indicated, and detectives believe they belong to Goodwin, but they have yet to be positively identified. She was reportedly strangled to death, and Cossette allegedly set the apartment on fire in a suicide attempt.
According to police, Cossette was charged with murder, arson, and tampering/fabricating evidence. KPRC-TV reports that Cossette’s bond was set at $1.2 million.
