New Mexico man accused of raping underage family member over six-year period

RATON, N.M. (TCD) -- A 61-year-old man was arrested and charged on Saturday, Feb. 18, for allegedly raping an underage family member.
According to a press release from the New Mexico State Police, in March 2021, an 11-month investigation was launched. State Police agents learned that Larry Guara reportedly raped the family member over a six-year period. Police say the victim was a young child when the crimes first began, and Guara reportedly sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions.
According to police, Guara was arrested without incident and charged with four counts of second-degree criminal sexual contact of a minor under 13, unclothed, one count of second-degree sexual penetration, force or coercion of a child 13 to 18, and one count of first-degree sexual penetration of a child under 13.
Guara was reportedly booked into the Vigil Maldonado Detention Center without bond. Police did not disclose the victim's name.
