MARLBOROUGH, Conn. (TCD) -- A 20-year-old man and 16-year-old juvenile male were arrested earlier this week for allegedly kidnapping a 64-year-old woman from a Big Y parking lot on Sept. 11, 2021.
According to a press release from the Connecticut State Police, a five-month investigation was launched after the incident occurred. WVIT-TV reports Kenneth Gordon and the teen suspect approached the victim as she was getting into her car. They reportedly demanded money and threw the woman in the back seat of her car. The suspects allegedly showed a handgun, put a bag over the victim’s head, and struck her in the face multiple times.
As the victim remained in the back seat, the suspects reportedly drove to East Hartford and used her bank card to steal her money from an ATM. Three hours later, the woman was allegedly dropped off in Berlin, and the suspects lit her car on fire.
State police say on Tuesday, March 1, Gordon and the juvenile male were arrested and charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree arson, and second-degree larceny.
According to police, Gordon remains held on $1 million bond and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, March 2. The 16-year-old suspect was ordered to be held in a juvenile detention center and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, March 2, police say.
