NEW YORK (TCD) -- A 21-year-old man faces murder charges after his cousin’s body was found in a storage bin on a Bronx sidewalk.
According to NBC New York, Khalid Barrow was taken into custody over the weekend in connection with 35-year-old Nisaa Walcott’s death. Walcott’s body was found Friday, Feb. 25, on the 900 block of University Avenue in the Bronx. A man reportedly saw the container and noticed a leg.
NBC New York reports surveillance footage allegedly showed Barrow leaving Walcott’s apartment in East Harlem with a plastic container. Another person could reportedly be seen helping move the box.
Barrow is accused of sending text messages from Walcott’s phone that misled friends and family, WABC-TV reports. Walcott’s brother Eugene Butler reportedly last talked to her on Feb. 14 and told WABC he received a text from Walcott’s phone saying she was going out of town and Barrow would look after her son.
Butler, however, reportedly did not believe it because it was unlike Walcott to leave her son. The teen reportedly came home one day and allegedly saw Barrow cleaning the floor.
Walcott reportedly lived in East Harlem with her teenage son. According to New York City Department of Correction inmate information, Barrow was booked into jail for second-degree murder.
