WORCESTER COUNTY, Mass. (TCD) -- A 25-year-old Ashburnham woman was sentenced to life in prison for killing her ex-boyfriend in a treehouse and dumping his body on the side of the road.
The Worcester County District Attorney’s Office announced Julia Enright’s sentence March 4 and said she will be eligible for parole in 25 years. The victim, 20-year-old Brandon Chicklis, was last seen June 23, 2018.
Enright was convicted of second-degree murder Nov. 29, 2021, the District Attorney’s Office said. She has been in custody since her arrest in July 2018.
According to Mass Live, a jogger discovered Chicklis' body on the side of Route 119 on July 10, 2018, in New Hampshire. The body was reportedly wrapped in a tarp, blanket, and canvas sheet. Chicklis and Enright reportedly rode the bus together to Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School and started dating.
Chicklis was reportedly stabbed over a dozen times in Enright’s treehouse, Mass Live reports. Prosecutors argued Enright killed him as a "surprise gift" for her boyfriend at the time. They also said they found evidence Enright wrote about an "insatiable curiosity to kill a person" and found wet specimens in her bedroom. She also reportedly worked as a dominatrix on the side. Enright’s attorney, however, said she killed Chicklis in self-defense because he raped her.
Enright said at her sentencing hearing, "There is not a day that goes by that don’t think about this or don’t wish I could go back. Maybe you need to hear me say this: I’m sorry to everyone. His parents, his siblings, his loved ones, my parents, friends, everyone."
