Michigan parents accused of involuntary manslaughter, child abuse against 3-month-old

CHEBOYGAN COUNTY, Mich. (TCD) -- Two parents were arrested last week in connection with the death of their 3-month-old child.
Cheboygan County Sheriff Dale Clarmont told WWTV-TV that an ambulance responded to a home on March 14 at approximately 8:26 a.m. At the scene, a 3-month-old child was reportedly not breathing. The child was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead, WWTV reports.
According to the Cheboygan Daily Tribune, the child’s parents, 22-year-old Justin Bond and 21-year-old Deana Bond, were taking care of the infant when the alleged physical abuse occurred. The parents reportedly failed to provide immediate medical treatment following the injury.
The parents were arrested Friday, March 18, after an autopsy was performed, the Cheboygan Daily Tribune reports. They were each charged with one count of second-degree child abuse and one count of involuntary manslaughter, which carries a sentence up to 15 years in prison, the Cheboygan Daily Tribune reports.
According to WWTV, the parents remain held on $75,000 bond. They are both are reportedly scheduled to appear in court March 24.
