Delaware man allegedly hires hit man to kill his ex-wife

WILMINGTON, Del. (TCD) -- A 47-year-old man was arrested this week after allegedly hiring a hit man to kill his ex-wife.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Delaware, Javier Rodriguez made a down payment of $5,000 to another person to pay for the hit man. On March 18, he also reportedly agreed to pay another $5,000 after the assignment was complete.
According to The Associated Press, the suspect told the person how he wanted the shooting to occur in recorded conversations.
On Wednesday, March 23, the U.S. Attorney’s Office says Rodriguez was arrested on charges of devising a plot to engage in interstate murder-for-hire. If convicted, Rodriguez reportedly faces a maximum of 10 years in federal prison. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Rodriguez will remain held pending a hearing scheduled for March 31.
