WATERTOWN, N.Y. (TCD) -- A 51-year-old woman was taken into custody for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend with a screwdriver in their apartment.
According to WWNY-TV, Watertown Police Department officers responded to a call at an apartment on the 300 block of Mill Street Tuesday, March 22, at 9:30 a.m. The officers located 56-year-old Jamie Doyle and saw he had been hit with the tool.
Watertown Detective Lt. Joe Donoghue told WWNY, "Apparently someone had been stabbed with a screwdriver and patrols responded. We did find one male who had a screwdriver still embedded in his body."
Officers arrested Doyle’s girlfriend, Michele Matthews, for second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
Syracuse.com reports Doyle was alert and speaking with law enforcement officials when they arrived. He was transported via helicopter to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
Doyle and Matthews allegedly got into an argument at the apartment, and police say she used the screwdriver during the fight.
According to WWTI-TV, Matthews was released on her own recognizance following her arraignment.
