Minnesota man accused of traveling to Texas for sex with 15-year-old

MCKINNEY, Texas (TCD) -- A 27-year-old man was arrested recently after traveling over 900 miles from Minnesota to Texas to have sex with a 15-year-old girl.
According to a press release from the Collin County Sheriff’s Office, an undercover investigator with the Collin County Sheriff’s Office Child Exploitation Unit posed as a 15-year-old girl online. Richard Jenkins of Bricelyn, Minnesota, reportedly contacted the teen and said he wanted to meet and engage in sexual activity.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Jenkins drove to pick her up and bring her back to Minnesota. He allegedly told the undercover agent posing as a 15-year-old girl to tell her parents she would be at a camp in Minnesota.
On Saturday, March 19, the Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested Jenkins at a local park. He was reportedly charged with online solicitation of a minor –– sexual conduct. According to the Sheriff’s Office, Jenkins was booked into the Collin County Detention Facility and was released on $250,000 bond.
In a statement, Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner said, "Please diligently monitor your children’s online activities. This man drove 12 straight hours with the intent to pick up a 15-year-old child so he could drive her out of state and sexually assault her."
Skinner added, "If you suspect that any person is communicating inappropriately with your child online, please report this matter to your nearest law enforcement agency. In Collin County, we will continue to work hard to hunt those who seek to prey upon our children."
