HIDALGO COUNTY, Texas (TCD) -- A 21-year-old woman was arrested recently after allegedly intentionally hitting and killing her boyfriend with a car.
According to a press release from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, on March 19 at approximately 8:44 a.m., deputies responded to the 1700 block of Clay Drive to a report of a car accident. At the scene, authorities reportedly found 24-year-old Erick Sanchez, who had been fatally struck by Briana Lisset Soria in a black Chevrolet Camaro.
Soria and the victim were allegedly dating. According to the Brownsville Herald, Soria hit Sanchez because he was allegedly cheating on her with someone named Maritza Valdez. Soria reportedly told authorities she and Sanchez went to Valdez’s home and confronted her. Then she allegedly got into a physical altercation with Valdez.
After the altercation, the Brownsville Herald reports Soria went to her car and told Sanchez to get inside. He allegedly refused and walked away. That’s when Soria reportedly accelerated the Camaro toward Sanchez.
Soria was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, the Sheriff’s Office says. Her bond was reportedly set at $1 million.
