LAS VEGAS (TCD) -- 37-year-old "Making the Band" reality star Kevin Barnes, also known as "Chopper," was recently arrested on suspicion of sex trafficking.
According to a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, on Monday, April 25, Barnes was booked into the Clark County Detention Center and charged with one count of sex trafficking of an adult.
Detectives believe the reality star used his large social media presence to recruit women to be sex workers, police say. Barnes allegedly direct messaged an undercover detective posing as a prostitute with an offer to get paid through sex work, offering a spot on his "team."
According to court records obtained by KSNV-TV, Barnes was eventually released from the detention center on his own recognizance, and he is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on May 10.
As part of the early 2000’s show, "Making the Band," Barnes became a member of a hip-hop group founded by Sean Combs called Da Band, KSNV reports.
