ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. (TCD) -- A 32-year-old man was recently arrested after allegedly holding his girlfriend and her two children hostage in a home.
According to a news release from the Alamance County Sheriff's Office, on Tuesday, April 26, at approximately 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to a domestic call on Cedar Hill Drive and spoke with a family member who told authorities a woman and her two children were inside the home and believed to be in distress.
Deputies tried to get the woman and her boyfriend to leave the home, but they refused, the Sheriff's Office alleges. Deputies reportedly forced entry into the residence due to the domestic violence history involving the woman and her boyfriend.
Inside the home, the Sheriff's Office says deputies found Dustin Cook hiding in a closet.
Upon further investigation, authorities learned the woman and her two juvenile children were being held hostage by Cook and could not leave, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Cook was reportedly arrested and charged with three counts of false imprisonment and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, and he was served with five outstanding orders for arrest, involving probation violations and failures to appear. Cook's bond was set at $103,000.
