NEW YORK (TCD) -- A 39-year-old man was fatally stabbed at a popular Times Square restaurant over the weekend following an altercation with a suspect.
According to CNN, on Saturday, April 30, at 10:45 p.m., New York Police Department officers responded to an "assault in progress" call at the Dave & Busters on 42nd Street. When they arrived, officers reportedly located 39-year-old Allen Stanford suffering from apparent stab wounds. He was taken to St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The New York Times reports the fight broke out when Stanford allegedly reached for a prize on a high shelf, and it fell. The prize fell near a girl standing with the suspect, Jesse Armstrong, and it might have hit her. Armstrong and Stanford reportedly got into an argument, and Armstrong allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Stanford.
A security guard reportedly followed Armstrong out of Dave & Busters and informed an officer when he saw Armstrong go into a nearby subway station, according to NBC News.
Armstrong was later arrested and charged with murder. The New York Times reports he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Dave & Buster’s told The New York Times in a statement, "We are fully cooperating with police in their investigation. Our thoughts and sympathies are with those affected by this terrible incident."
