Missing 13-year-old girl’s death ruled homicide after she is found dead in stream

BEAVERTON, Ore. (TCD) -- A missing 13-year-old girl’s death has been ruled a homicide after her body was found in a small stream this week.
On May 9, Beaverton Police said they were looking for Milana Li, a runaway from the Murray Hill neighborhood. She was last seen at her apartment on SW Murray Boulevard and SW Scholls Ferry Road at 4 p.m. on May 8. Police said her phone was likely turned off. Beaverton Police also mentioned her first language is Russian and she struggles with English.
The next day, May 10, Beaverton Police announced they responded to a report of suspicious circumstances at Westside Linear Park and found her dead in a small stream. Police said the "circumstances surrounding Li’s death are suspicious." Oregon Live reports the stream is about a mile away from her apartment and school.
According to Beaverton Police, an autopsy was performed Wednesday, May 11, and the medical examiner ruled her death a homicide. Her cause of death has not been released. Police said they do not believe there is an active threat to the neighborhood and the investigation remains ongoing.
