Arizona man accused of fatally shooting girlfriend allegedly drove her to hospital for help

PRESCOTT, Ariz. (TCD) -- A 36-year-old man was arrested after allegedly shooting his 31-year-old girlfriend and driving her to the hospital for treatment.
According to a media release from the Prescott Police Department, on May 16 at around 10:29 p.m., officers responded to Yavapai Regional Medical Center to a report of a female victim who had suffered a single gunshot wound.
Police say the victim, Skylar Hughes, eventually succumbed to her gunshot injury at the hospital. Upon further investigation, authorities reportedly learned her boyfriend, Jason Warnock, brought her to the hospital.
According to police, the two lived together in a travel trailer near Williamson Valley and Iron Springs roads, where the shooting took place.
Warnock reportedly confessed to shooting his girlfriend before bringing her to the hospital. He was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail on charges of first-degree murder and misconduct involving weapons, police said. The investigation remains ongoing.
